It's become a home from home for the Nationals and offers a varied and challenging venue for competition. The two-day event this year co-sponsored by HPI saw 36 of the top crawlers in the UK run their rigs over five sections, each containing 10 gates. The classes being competed for were: M.O.A (Motor On Axle), 'Shaftie' (Shaft Driven), overall 2010 Winner (on points and time) and the 2010 Junior title.
The event, this year organised by 'Crawling Cow freak' and 'Up and Over' brought Wales and Scotland firmly together to run the event, and with a team of dedicated helpers running the scrutineering, scoring and helping set out (and test) the sections, it was a truly 'National' event in every sense of the word.
The event as ever was a great success, It proves that while still not covered by an 'official body' to set rules or run events and comps, is very much alive and moving forward. The crawling community and I really do mean community, govern themselves and work together for a common goal. Every age and gender is welcome and it's possibly the one form of competitive RC that attract 'everyone'. We are all looking forward to next years Nationals and the impending indoor series held at Ardent raceway, the days of standing shivering during a winter comp should be well and truly over. With comps now run in most parts of the country there's never been a better time to get into crawling and enjoy a more sedate form of competition.

The overall winner of the 2010 UK nationals was: Jordi555
As the silverware was lifted one by one, we all looked back on a great weekend and are fired up ready for the next informal meet and competition. Don't think that shafties are dead either, as Sam Sibly proved that a mostly stock rig can finish 3th against the might of the big boy's rigs. A noticable absence this year was the torsion chassis, something that last year's overall winner Ruffryder put to good affect. The UK weather (and its endless variations) has caused a lot of issues for this type of rigs articulation as the plastics used tend to stiffen on colder days, so for consistency the traditional TVP chassis, and shocks seemed to be the norm again.
The M.O.A. and overall class winner was Jordi555, and his Vanquish chassis showed almost infinite geometry and setup adjustments were possible for links and shock placement. The #67918 HB Sedona tyres he was running proved perfect for all areas of the terrain during the comp and even with the occasional downpour on day two, aided him in his victory.
